Mission and Vision

VISION
Through research and development work and the promotion of andragogy and lifelong learning in all fields, we will contribute to the empowerment of the adult population of Slovenia and adult educators for creative participation and sustainable community action and meaningful life and work.

MISSION
The mission of the Slovenian Institute for Adult Education is to foster a culture of lifelong learning and to contribute to equitable, accessible and quality education and learning for all adults in Slovenia.

(The revised mission statement was approved by the complete SIAE team on 30 September 2022.)

VALUES

PROFESSIONALISM

We act in accordance with the fundamental principles and knowledge of andragogy and other disciplines relevant to the development of adult education. We develop professional solutions based on theoretical foundations and empirical research findings. We take care of our own professional competence and continuous professional development.

CREATIVITY

We co-create a work environment based on health, trust, openness and the promotion of personal flourishing. This helps to foster creative thinking, the generation and refinement of ideas and the development of original solutions to professional challenges in adult learning and education.

RESPONSIBILITY

We recognise that through our work, decisions and example we influence the quality of life of the people we serve. We are committed to acting responsibly for the benefit of the individual, the community and our natural environment, for a future that we see as a creative challenge to co-create.

PROFESSIONAL AUTONOMY

In accordance with the principles of responsible and professional conduct, we encourage the professional autonomy of our employees to design, present and defend professional solutions and positions.

QUALITY RELATIONSHIPS

We create and foster respectful relationships based on mutual trust, open dialogue, honesty, solidarity, teamwork and the ability to develop joint solutions, taking into account the diversity of opinions and viewpoints of individuals.

COOPERATION

We work together to share and exchange knowledge and experience in order to achieve common goals. We work as a team and with stakeholders/partners in education and wider society.
