AIM<\/h5>\n

The aim of the Awards is to present individuals, groups and organisations who invest a lot into learning and education and thus achieve a lot for the general public as role models, celebrating achievements of adults who change lives through learning and highlighting the advantages of learning.<\/p>\n

We want to encourage participation in learning, as only empowered individuals can change themselves and the world for the better. Learning has an important effect on personal and social life of individuals. It influences their health, employability, the learning ability of their children, their savings at the end of their life and the development of their environment. Through their endeavours, they change themselves, their closest relatives and friends, their neighbourhood, their community and the society in general.<\/p>\n

OBJECTIVES<\/h5>\n

To raise awareness among the largest possible number of citizens of the effects of learning and education on development of individuals and society, increasing the participation of adults in learning and education.<\/p>\n

DESCRIPTION<\/h5>\n

We have been presenting SIAE awards since 1997 as part of the Lifelong Learning Weeks (TVU) project. Since 1999, we have been featuring the recipients in video portraits. Over the years, we have made several significant changes to the award presentation process, the categories of recipients, and the number of recipients. However, our goals remain the same.\u200b<\/p>\n

For the second year in a row, we are presenting awards in each statistical region \u2014 that is, to twelve individuals and groups selected by expert committees from each region. From among them, the general public selects the BEST Lifelong Learning Story for each year through an online vote.<\/p>\n

Through 2028, the Awards are part of the project Raising awareness, communicating with different audiences and encouraging greater involvement in lifelong learning (shortened to Awareness-raising for Lifelong Learning). The investment is co-financed by the Republic of Slovenia and the European Union from the European Social Fund Plus (ESF+). The initiative is governed by the SIAE Rules for Awarding Recognitions.<\/p>\n

ACTIVITIES<\/h5>\n

Every year in September and October, a Call for tenders for nominations for the Awards for Outstanding Achievements in Lifelong Learning is held, through which we collect nominations for the awards. From among the valid nominations received, the SIAE Awards Committees in each region select their respective SIAE Award recipients, usually in November.<\/p>\n

In January, we hold our first meeting with the award recipients and conduct interviews to gather their life stories. In March, we film videos with them; in April, we prepare them for release so that we can premiere them to the public in May \u2014 at the LLW national opening. During the LLW, the general public votes online to select the BEST Lifelong Learning Story of the current year from among all Award recipients.<\/p>\n

We invite Award recipients to participate in various events (conferences, study visits, Festival of the third age, etc.), offering them the opportunity to share their learning experiences with others.<\/p>\n
